About our High Commissioner

Matthew Forbes was accredited as the British High Commissioner to Seychelles on 07 July 2009.

Mr Forbes joined the Diplomatic Service in 1987 and has previously served in various parts of the world, including Peking, Colombo and Wellington, as Deputy Governor of Pitcairn Island and as  Deputy High Commissioner at the British High Commission in Maseru
He has also held various positions within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office including  Head of  Head of Section, Mexico, Central America, Cuba, Dominican Republic & Haiti                      

The High Commissioner is assisted by the Vice Consul and five other members of staff

What does our High Commissioner do?

The British High Commissioner is HM The Queen's representative in the Seychelles and is responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission. His tasks are to present British policies to the Seychelles Government and to Seychellois, to report and explain Seychelles policies and views to his own Government in London, and to promote British interests. He is also responsible for press, cultural relations and consular services
