Are you arriving to settle in Seychelles?

Most transactions are conducted in and around the capital of Victoria on the main island of Mahe. Most of the facilities, including fee paying schools and private clinics are also situated on the main island.

Accommodation

For short term accommodation, there are a number of large hotels and smaller guest houses on Mahe and the inner islands. For more details see the Seychelles Tourist Office website. Longer term accommodation is available in private rented houses or apartments. There are few estate agents in Seychelles, private residential lets are usually advertised in the island’s only daily newspaper, the Nation. Rental charges generally start at SR 5000 per month for a 2-3 bedroom house.

Health Service

Essential health services are provided free to all citizens and residents including expatriates employed in Seychelles. The main hospital is in Victoria and health centres are situated in most of the residential areas. There are also several private medical and dental clinics on Mahe. No international immunisation is required for entry into Seychelles except for Yellow Fever which is required from passengers travelling through infected areas.

Education

There is free state school education available from the age of five up to the age of sixteen; teaching is conducted in all three national languages: Creole, English and French. additionally there are two English Language private schools on Mahe. They are:

Immigration

All expatriate workers in Seychelles require a Gainful Occupation Permit (G.O.P)
Without this, non-Seychellois are not permitted to work full time or part time, paid or unpaid. Applications for G.O.P’s should be made to the Department of Immigration.
